Dear reader,

I took a small break from writing due to life becoming a bit more hectic than usual.

But, these following two letters I am very excited to write.

Who am I kidding, all of the letters coming your way are extremely exciting for me to write.

Both go hand in hand, and I am sure you will see the similarities, but, I think I should just go right into it.

Roughly 7 weeks ago I was given the opportunity to preach at a small country church out in the middle of nowhere. I met the lead pastor (Roger Pross) through working alongside him in different ministries with YFC and a Unity-driven team that was doing their best to bring all the churches together for the sake of the gospel and the hurting all around us.

He told me to begin reading through the book of John and ask God what he wanted to preach to/through me. I must say it didn’t take very long for the passages of 1:14 -18 to stick out like a sore thumb.

I just kept coming back to it time and time again.

“This has got to be what God wants me to share.”

I went to work shortly after that I began pouring time into the word and just kept seeking God out and asking the question “Am I seeing this right?”

It’s so important to ask God to shed His light on His word. He wrote it, after all, I’d rather listen to him than a commentary.

I met with the pastor a couple of times to make sure I wasn’t planning on preaching absolute heresy, a couple of weeks later my hands and my heart were supper shaky as I got up from my seat to preach God’s holy word.

Pause.

Have you ever had the chance to preach God’s holy word to someone? Forget the stigma that it needs to be from a pulpit or a stage. Sharing God’s word is preaching. Formally or informally.

2 Timothy 4:2 says “Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort with complete patience and teaching.”

I had the opportunity to preach on Grace and Truth. But, when I say that I have preached about grace and truth more times than I can count that isn’t to boost my self-image. It’s an honest reflection of the past few years in my life in which God has heavily put the themes of Grace and Truth in my heart.

When God puts something in your heart, he writes it and burns it there for a reason. He wants you to share it. You are his vessel, his ambassador, his mouthpiece.

The Holy Spirit has so much to say through you. Let me say that again, just in case this is the first time you’re hearing this.

The Holy Spirit has so so so much to say through you.

The Spirit of the Living God dwells within you if you are truly one of God’s Chosen. You are sealed with Him, and He empowers you in your greatest weakness to do as God has commanded us in his Holy Word.

Preach the word in season and out of season.

That is my exhortation to you in this letter. You are filled with the Holy Spirit of God, tap into Him!

Galatians 5 is clear when talking about walking by The Spirit. He is necessary for our walk in this life. He helps us in so many ways that we cannot even comprehend.

I could go on a long tangent about the Holy Spirit, but I think I’ll save all that for a future letter.

Today as you go preach the Word. No matter how it goes, preach it.

Practice makes better.

Until the following letter,

-Your Fellow Preacher, Mitchell
