Dear Jesus, I don’t believe we’ve ever talked
Besides a prayer that I prayed when I was a child
That somehow involved me giving you my heart
Please excuse me if I’m a bit nervous here right now
I don’t really know how to talk to you
I have some questions
Things, I would love to know
Would you be willing to shine some light on me here tonight
I’m sure that my blood and thoughts will begin to overflow
You’ve felt the weight of my sin
I practically drove in each nail
Yet you’re before me here today right now
Making it so clear, that your love actually doesn’t fail.
Now that you’ve been off this world for some time
Do you often look down?
And see how we’ve done
With all your commands and parables that you left us with
When you yourself walked around
Dear friend, I’ve been hoping you’d call
It’s been far too long
I hope you are well
Please don’t be nervous, come close I have so much to tell
You have so many good questions
All of which I will do my best to answer
But I hope you know and understand
That not all of your questions there in your heart fall under my Father’s imminent plan.
Yes, I did choose to die for your lust
And all those dark thoughts that swirl around
I’d do it again in a heartbeat buddy,
My love like you already mentioned has absolutely no bounds
I do look down each day, and watch my followers
This world has many snares and lies
That sadly entice my Father’s children away from Him
Many will walk this very path and will surely die
Dear Jesus, I agree with what you’ve said
So many of our churches
Are full of worship, scripture, and many believer’s attendances
But deep down they are spiritually dead.
You set the example for us
How we should walk on the earth
We ought to serve and love others sacrificially
Before we go ourselves, and not put too much stock in our pride and worth
You spoke of a radical lifestyle
One not most of us live-out
You asked your disciples to drop everything to follow you
Yet nowadays, if we pray to our Father
And don’t get a response that we like
We get mad, sit around, and pout
My sincere prayer is this,
Jesus, how can I live radically like you?
Not wasting any minute, and pointing back
To our Heavenly Father always and forever true.
Dear Friend, we share the same concern
My bride desperately needs heart surgery
The Gospel that I spoke of never focused on
A Sunday morning service type of reality
My life was the perfect picture of discipleship
Walk with love with one another each day
Reach out to the lost, they’re everywhere you look
Turn and look around
Discipleship believe it or not is not a class you need to take or a special book
You could say my life was radical
But I prefer the term scandalous
The fact of the matter is the Father placed me
Down there on the earth to strip away the need of sacrifices and self-righteousness
To live like I did I’d urge you
In a very specific direction
Spend time alone with the Father whenever you can
Strive to break religious norms and horrible mindsets of perfection
I’m the only way to the Father
So reach out to me often
You also have our Spirit who will empower you
To speak the truth to a world who has sadly forgotten
Dear Jesus, if you could say anything
What would you say to your bride?
What does your Church need to hear?
Which of your truths do we lack to abide?
A question I do want to ask
If you don’t mind
If I really pray for anything in your name
Will it actually become mine?
A lot of people I know pray in your name
But some prayers get answered and others
They seem to get thrown away
How should I pray Jesus?
Is there a special way?
Would you be willing to teach me right now right here today?
Jesus thank you so much for sitting with me
Your wisdom and truth I will hide in my heart
We will have many more conversations
Which I hope that you would continue to break me apart
I will go and speak with your Spirit now
We’ve got a lot to talk about
I’ve heard so many things about Him
And I would like to get all of my scattered thoughts sorted out
Goodbye Jesus, you mean so much to me
Thank you for dying on that horrible cross and freely handing me salvation and eternity
Dear Friend, you’ve saved the best questions for last
My Church, My Bride requires a movement and reformation that won’t pass
I told my disciples to go, please don’t just sit and relax
Your life is a gift, use it well
This world will fade away like a mist, oh so fast
As for praying in My name
I’m not a genie or magician here for your pleasure
Whatever you need to grow closer to I, The Spirit, and The Father
We will give to you, which is better than any earthly pleasure or treasure
Every prayer is answered.
That doesn’t mean you’ll always like what answer you’ll get
You can trust Us when we say
The most common answers are yes, no, and not yet.
Don’t stop talking to us, we’ll never leave or fail you
With all the trials that are coming your way in this life
You’ll need a powerful anchor to hold onto
I can guarantee you this, friend listen to me good
Look to The Father every day
He’ll bless you forevermore and then some
Just as a perfect Dad should
