Dear readers,
Today is obviously Thanksgiving, and I’m sure you can already guess what the general theme of today’s letter will be.
Guys, I kid you not, before this week even began I have been thinking a lot on what God has given me, what He’s done for me, and everything in between.
I know if I told God’s given you everything you’ve ever had you’d probably shrug it off and say, “Yeah I know.”
But when you really stop to think about what God’s done in your life, you can’t just shrug it off. All the different ways that God blesses us and provides for us on a daily basis it is ridiculous. He does so much.
He does absolutely everything.
Everything that happens on this earth is crafted and put together in His perfect hands. Nothing happens without Him knowing the immediate outcome before the world even came to be.
Just to give you a snapshot of what I am so thankful for I’m going to capture my past year looking back on what God has done for me, the good, the bad, and the very ugly.
Come along with me.
To start out the year I was living in Michigan, working at an amazing job in Sam’s Club, serving my heart out at Lake Ann Camp, and using all the time that I could to mentor middle schoolers in the ministry Younglife. The timeframe that God gave me these three things blessed me beyond comprehension.
The people that God placed in my story over this chapter were so overwhelmingly kind and gentle towards me. They helped me grow and change into the weirdo I am today. If you’re one of those amazing children of God that walked alongside me I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
During this timeframe I also met Andrea Potter, an amazing Big Sister in Christ, and in the first interaction I ever had with her I was introduced to The World Race, and look how God used her in my story.
Some massive trials hit me this year, I cannot deny that one bit. But looking back I can see how these trials refined me more and more into the man God has been calling me to be all along.
In March I lost my place of residence, my Younglife ministry, I had to quit my job, I lost my part-time job, I had to pack up my whole life and drive back out to New York within 24 hours. (Not my favorite day ever)
I lost all of my potential roads that I thought God was calling me down. Doors closed for me left and right, and God even took my best friend out of my story as well which was a very sad page in the book.
My parents divorce as well definitely shook things up a bit.
Yet. God still showed up every step of the way. He took me by the hand and led me to be exactly where He knew I needed to be all along.
God has provided me with absolutely everything I have needed this year. I know He has in years past, but this year I noticed it the most.
The money that I had in my savings plus the stimulus check that I received fully covered all of my expenses while I was without a job most of this year. The amount of times that God has covered me financially is unbelievable.
He always gave me a place to sleep.
He always brought food for me to eat.
He paved a way for me to travel around.
He allowed for my car’s transmission to get fixed.
One of my my personal favorite blessings that He has given me is within fundraising and buying gear for this missionary trip.
I have a small amount of things that still need to be purchased for the World Race, God has had people give me things they don’t need, gas money between places, a box of donuts for the road. He really does bless His children.
Now. Here’s the biggest blessing. Every step of the way I know God wanted me to trust Him with the funds needed for The World Race.
Today I just checked and He has raised $11,913. That means God just needs to provide $5,987 more!!!
How fantastic is that?!?!?
Today as you celebrate. Really take about 7 minutes or so, look at all that God has given you and allowed to happen. You really do start to see His handiwork in absolutely everything.
Until next time,
-Mitchell
I am thankful to see you have a heart full of thankfulness! Trials may seem unbearable in the moment, but are used by our Father to draw us deeper into kingdom life!
Happy Thanksgiving!!??
